Children start arriving at 7.30 in the morning. They are mostly brought to preschool by their parents or by an older brother or sister.

After breakfast the children go into their own class for morning ring. During this time they participate in a discussion based on the theme for the week. This is followed by an incidental numeracy activity where children discuss the weather- the minimum and maximum temperatures and the difference between them. They count the days of the week, the number of children present or absent, they calculate the number of children who have brought snack; using a format known as data handling they count the number of people who brought fruit, sandwiches, yoghurt or juice. During these times there is a lot of interaction and participation between children and the teacher, who facilitates the discussion.

This is followed by art activities; during art children are able to choose from 4 basic art activities e.g. painting activities, drawing activities, cutting and pasting and a dough or clay activity. Added to these activities are special art activities and box construction.

During snack time children have a snack of fruit that they have brought from home.
Children are then able to play freely in any of the five activity areas. They are able to play in the make-believe area, block area, educational toy area, book corner and the discovery area. This time is known as free choice activity time.

This is followed by 40 minutes of outdoor play. Children have lots of different activities to play with while they are outdoors. We have wooden climbing equipment, swings, a sandpit, a water play area, hopscotch games, skipping ropes, hula hoops, balls and bean bags. Teachers also set up an obstacle course and supervise circle games.
This is followed by twenty-minute music and movement activity and a story.

After a balanced meal at lunchtime the little ones are ready for an hour rest.

In the afternoon children participate freely indoors or outdoors Children are collected at different times and the centre closes at 4.30.
